My Disappointing Experience with Calicut's Chinese Factory's 399 Combo

"Read about my frustrating experience with Calicut's Chinese Factory's 399 Combo, including cold starters, salty chilly chicken, and just passable soup and fried momos. Discover if the restaurant's ambience made up for the disappointing food."

To start, the restaurant's ambiance was quite impressive. The décor was modern and trendy, with colorful lighting and comfortable seating arrangements. However, the ambiance alone couldn't make up for the subpar food quality.

I recently visited this restaurant with high expectations, given its 399 Combo that offered unlimited quantities of 2 juices, 2 chicken starters, fried momos, soup, and main course of fried rice and chilly chicken. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfying, and I left the restaurant feeling frustrated and disappointed.

How we got ☝ and how we left ☝

The chicken starters served were cold and lacked flavor. It was evident that they had been sitting out for a while before being served. The texture was not crispy, which made it unappetizing. The fried momos were decent but weren't anything exceptional. They came with a sweet and sour chutney that had a decent taste, but it wasn't enough to make up for the other lackluster items on the plate.

The juice had 0 juice in it and it was just some tonic tasting squash !

The soup was the only item that I enjoyed. It was flavorful and comforting, and it seemed to be made with fresh ingredients. However, it was the only highlight of the meal. The main course of fried rice and chilly chicken was a complete letdown. The chilly chicken was overly salty, making it difficult to eat, and it lacked the right balance of spices. The fried rice, on the other hand, was unappetizing and lacked flavour. Despite our best efforts to avoid wasting food, we were unable to finish the platter.

Overall, my experience at Calicut's Chinese Factory was disappointing. The 399 Combo deal was enticing, but the food quality didn't meet my expectations. While the ambiance was great, it couldn't make up for the lackluster food. I would recommend against visiting Calicut's Chinese Factory, based on my personal experience. However, I acknowledge that the ambience of the restaurant was noteworthy and may be worth visiting for that aspect alone.

However, It's worth mentioning that despite my disappointing experience with Calicut's Chinese Factory's 399 Combo, a friend who had studied in China had recommended the restaurant. According to the friend, the food at Chinese Factory was authentic Chinese cuisine, which was supposed to be cold and sweet. It's possible that the friend was referring to the hostel food in China, which can have different flavor profiles and styles compared to restaurant food.

Additionally, it's important to note that food preferences are subjective and can vary widely from person to person. What one person considers authentic and delicious might not be the same for someone else. In this case, I did not have a positive experience with the food and cannot personally recommend the restaurant.

It's always a good idea to keep an open mind when trying new restaurants and cuisines, but it's also important to trust your own taste buds and preferences. If a restaurant doesn't meet your expectations, it's okay to acknowledge that and look for other options that better suit your palate.

The 399 Combo may seem like a great deal, but the quality of the food is lacking, and the restaurant's overall experience leaves much to be desired.
